Operators overcharging by £70-£100 million

Interoute is one of the largest operators of cloud services in Europe owning 11th data centres and a high speed pan-European fibre network. In a press release announcing the opening of their new London data centre, the company has decried what it calls a "patch tax" that it says the industry is unfairly charging its UK customers. The total cost to businesses of that tax is between £70 million and £100 million pounds per year. That's enough to build at least three state of the art cloud data centres.
