Case Study: European Space Agency
The European Space Agency’s (ESA) mission is to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world. ESA’s Space exploration programmes aim to discover more about Earth, its immediate space environment, our Solar System and the Universe.
We worked with the European Space Agency (ESA) to build its Supersites Exploration Platform (SSEP) using Interoute Virtual Data Centre. SSEP enables scientific data users around the world to better understand the processes causing geohazards such as earthquakes and volcanic activity by using simple tools to view, retrieve and analyse large volumes of data from multiple archives.
Supersite Big Data.
SSEP enables scientists to instantly access vast amounts of satellite data directly from its secure platform and to efficiently analyse this Supersite Big Data direct from the platform using its shared tools and resources. SSEP uses Interoute Virtual Data Centre to provide on demand access to 13TB of data encompassing 50,000 radar scenes from ESA.
Beyond the cloud.

Bringing scientists closer together.
SSEP immediately brings ESA’s scientific communities and their data from around the world closer together. Instant access to a cloud toolbox with virtual desktop resources removes the barriers of location and unmanageable local data storage providing a platform that it’s hoped will ultimately lead to reduced loss of life in the future from natural hazards.
Cloud data for future insight.
