Interoute offers a range of services to increase availability of your business critical systems. On the other hand we've got services to increase resilience of the solution. Clustering and load balancing allows your service to continue to function even if some of the servers are offline, for example for hardware maintenance or application upgrades.

Firewalls

Managing a security solution is more then just buying a firewall. Once you've bought it you need to define an initial rule-set, which can be confusing enough when you don't do it very often. But it doesn't stop there. You need to regularly check your firewall and make sure your configuration is still up-to-date. And you have to install the latest patches to keep everything secure. By outsourcing firewall management to Interoute you just have to worry about the functionality you require, our security consultants will translate this in security rules and our security NOC will manage your firewall 24x7 and make sure it is always up-to-date.

Intrusion Detection and Prevention

Intrusion Detection takes security a step further.
Even though we install patches for the operating system as soon as they've been tested, every IT manager knows the opportunity for hackers still exists - Software vendors still leave a considerable delay between the fix being released and the vulnerability being discovered.  Additionally, some security flaws exist because of the way the application has been designed or are introduced by software maintenance many months after the application was originally commisioned.
Good firewalls help but so many attacks can just pass through them. That's where our Intrusion Detection and Prevention comes in. With this services it is possible to detect attacks on your applications and even prevent this traffic from reaching your servers.  People with valuable houses and cars monitor them with alarms, shouldn't you have the same sort of monitoring for your valuable data?

Availability

Load Balancing

Load balancers are devices that can distribute the traffic to and from your website over a number of servers. The benefit is that your customers will never notice the failure of a device because the others will simply take over. Interoute offers a number of load balancing devices depending on your specific requirements, ranging from even distribution between active devices to complex configurations that take performance of servers into account. If your business outgrows the current servers increasing performance is as simple as adding additional devices.
Load balancing can even be configured accross multiple data centres.

Clustering

For applications that can't use load balancing, for example a database, we've got another solution to increase availability: clustering. A cluster of servers shares storage making it possible for each node in the cluster to access the same data. Like load balancing, if one fails the other takes over.
