Introduction to IP Transit
IP transit is an Internet service where your network becomes part of the collection of IP networks around the world known as The Internet. Your IP network requires an Autonomous System Number (which identifies it in the global routing world) and a range of provider independent (PI) public IP addresses that are allocated to you by an Internet registry such as RIPE. Your IP Transit provider then provides you with a full routing table via the routing protocol called BGP-4. Your IP Transit provider will then advertise your IP addresses to the rest of the Internet.
