VoIP to hit the movies
A national cinema chain has announced that it will install a new VoIP system, it has been reported.
Empire Cinemas believes that the move will save them £100,000 within a year.
Telappliant reports the move will see a flexible, integrated communication network provided to link the firm's 17 theatres nationwide with its head office.
It will also provide an improved unified service to customers calling with enquiries or for bookings.
Empire's head of IT, Julian Timm said that the hardware offered a significant cost saving for the firm.
"The financial benefits speak for themselves and were certainly a factor that could not be ignored," he added.
"We envisage we will save almost £100K over the first 12 months which includes substantial line rental, maintenance and call cost reductions."
Meanwhile, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) joined forces with a VoIP provider last week to offer its members free access to VoIP services.
The FSB and Coms PLC are offering a full VoIP account to the 210,000 members, with costs only incurred for calls made outside the FSB members' directory.
