VoIP to 'lead way in employment'

Thu 03-Apr-2008

VoIP will be the industry leading the way in terms of global employment growth over the next few years, industry experts have suggested.

IBISWorld made the announcement, putting VoIP well ahead of other industries in its 2008 Top Jobs.

The business researchers predict that there will be an average annualised jobs growth of nearly 20 per cent through 2012.

They added that the average annualised wage growth in the industry would be 21.8 per cent.

George Van Horn, a senior analyst at IBIS, said it was the result of a significant revenue growth forecast for the same period driving more organisations to enter the industry which will boost employment.

"There still is a reasonable way for the sector to go as it gains greater consumer and business acceptance.

"The outlook is good as household broadband penetration is still rising, facilitating greater use of digital services and helping improve the call quality of industry services," he concluded.

According to a recent survey by Extreme Networks and Data Integration, 88 per cent of business users in the UK that use VoIP are happy with the technology.
