VoIP takes aim at small businesses
VoIP providers are aiming their products and services at small and medium sized businesses who are most sceptical of the technology, it has been reported.
A VoIP company has told the Business in Vancouver publication that the consumer market has taken to the software a lot faster than the enterprise market.
Jason Fischl, chief technical officer of the firm, believes this is because the majority of smaller and medium sized companies do not have the resources to employ dedicated IT specialists to implement the technology.
He told the publication: "The consumer market evolved much more quickly than the enterprise market, that being said, we think the real growth over the next few years will be in the enterprise space."
"The last segment that's really being addressed now is the small-business segment, which, because they have typically had unmanaged networks
have been the hardest to reach," he added.
Meanwhile, it was announced last week that the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) was partnering with a VoIP provider to offer its members free access to its services.
Any of the 210,000-member group will be able to upgrade to a full VoIP account that will give them a free additional line, with costs only incurred for calls made outside the FSB members' directory.
