UK firms offer more IT training, says survey
UK firms are leading the way in Europe as providers of IT training, new research suggests.
A survey by e-learning firm, Cegos, found that nearly two-thirds (61 per cent) of staff in the UK received IT training last year compared to less than half of that in Europe's other leading nations, Personnel today reports.
The poll of 1,000 medium and large firms from the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain revealed 55 per cent of UK organisations provided e-learning, compared to 51 per cent in Spain and less than half in the other countries.
It also found Germany and the UK are leading the way with staff coaching as 74 and 86 per cent respectively use the method of training.
Nine out of ten UK and French firms have a dedicated department, a score that is second only to Germany (96 per cent).
Total training spending in the UK however, is less than most of its European neighbours averaging at £261,000 per firm, compared to £829,000 in France, Germany's £684,000, £292,000 in Spain and Italy's £236,000.
