UC uptake driven by employees

Tue 01-Jul-2008

An increasing demand for unified communications (UC) is being driven by employees who are now able to work virtually, reports a source.

NetworkWorld has said that virtual workers have been benefiting from the options UC offer, with web conference tools being particularly important.

The website says technologies like these and instant messaging services help the employee to feel part of the office environment, especially in meetings.

A trend in IT staff driving forward adoption of VoIP services is beginning to change, as employees understand more what they represent.

Research from the website reinforced this, with 64 per cent of firms questioned reporting the initiative came from somewhere other than the IT division.

An additional 29 per cent were driven by the IT department and seven per cent said no demand had yet occurred.

Zycko.com said a report from Infonetics Research found the UC sector increased by 20 per cent sequentially last year.ADNFCR-1505-ID-18664874-ADNFCR
