Survey: UC drives productivity
Unified Communications (UC) provide the flexibility to drive productivity, a recent survey has shown.
The study by Avaya revealed businesses feel that performance suffers due to the unexpected absence of employees.
It also suggested that few have studied the true cost of this.
Chuck Wilsker, chief executive of the Telework Coalition told the quantitative web study that having the right technology is crucial to a plan that enables employees to work remotely.
"Most people today are already working away from their primary place of employment at least part of the time, whether it is at home over the weekend, on the train on the way to the office, or in an airport waiting for a flight," he added.
Recently, Dennis Schmidt, senior vice-president for network services at Bank of America, explained how a UC system had improved operations at the firm.
According to computerworld.com, Mr Schmidt said that the system had cut the cost of supplying phone services to employees by 15 per cent on average.
He added that UC systems also made it easier to expand into new buildings as there was no need to install voice-only networks.
