    Streaming media set to surge

    Media streaming could see a massive drive in demand in the US over the coming five years, according to a new report.

    According to a study carried out by Insight Research, the media streaming market will see a 135 per cent increase by the middle of the next decade, resulting in a surge in profits for organisations taking advantage of the technology.

    The sector will generate a massive $78 billion (£48 billion) in revenue in the US over the next five years as the infrastructure is developed to give more people access to media streaming services.

    In the UK, it is anticipated that video streaming and other forms of media streaming will become increasingly popular as high bandwidth internet access is rolled out across the country.

    The government has recently announced plans to deliver two megabits per second internet access to every connection in the country by 2012, helping to drive up interest in media streaming.
