Semiconductor outsourcing to boom, says Gartner
The global semiconductor outsourcing services market is set to boom, one market analyst claims.
Gartner forecasts outsourcing services are on pace to enjoy growth of 10.8 per cent from 2007.
The analyst predicts the sector's revenues for 2008 will total $47.4 billion (£24 billion) compared to last year's $42.8 billion.
It further predicts the market will see sales reaching $66.8 billion by 2012.
Jim Walker, research vice president for the firm, said during the tough economic times, product design offers major competitive advantages and should be a major focus for firms.
"The management of capital risk versus reward will only serve to promote the growth of outsourcing in the future," he added.
In other news, Gartner recently revealed consumers who prefer digital mediums as their channels for building knowledge can best be contacted via unique marketing tactics.
"Generation Virtual" is not defined by age, which means new tools are needed, it explained.
