Microsoft: Expect seamless migration to cloud
Microsoft's chief executive has said enterprise users will come to expect web-ready interfaces which are as recognisable and usable as desktop applications.
According to ZDNet, Steve Ballmer said developers should create web applications that migrate seamlessly from desktops to the 'cloud', which follows Microsoft's 'software plus services' model.
The site reports Ballmer was speaking during a keynote address at the company's World Wide Partner Conference.
Quoted by ZDNet, Mr Ballmer said "people expect consistency in interfaces", and added "the world will insist on 'click to run', not 'click to install' or 'click to configure'."
Microsoft founder Bill Gates recently stepped down as the firm's chairman, but is expected to maintain connections with the corporation.
