IT security spending to increase

Thu 24-Apr-2008

New research has indicated that spending on IT security within Europe is set to increase over the coming year as companies move to safeguard their operations.

IDC predicted that security spending in 16 European countries will rise to £10 billion in 2008, representing a 17.3 per cent increase on the figure recorded last year, IT Pro reports.

According to the news provider, companies in Europe are expected to concentrate on improving their security despite the recent economic downturn.

Eric Domage, analyst and author of the study, said: "Western European countries are still facing major security gaps in identity and access management, threat mitigation and compliance solutions."

In related news, Gartner recently reported that PC shipments rose to 71.1million units during the three months of this year.

The organisation stated that shipments continue to increase at a steady rate in the face of current global economic difficulties.
