Green IT solutions to increase in popularity
Eco-friendly IT consulting services will be increasingly used by European firms over the next six years.
According to Forrester, spend on green services will peak at $2.1 billion in 2014.
The advisory group's Christopher Mines believes that businesses are going to concentrate their eco-friendly efforts on improving the energy efficiency of their datacentres.
Mr Mines also noted that other areas of IT that do not waste as much energy will receive attention in the coming years, such as PCs and printers, as well as the implementation of tools capable of monitoring energy output.
He explained: "It's top-of-mind for most clients because problems like growth or power capacity limits, and returns like energy cost savings, are highly tangible.
"Strategists at a broad set of IT services providers - from datacentre specialists like HP and Intel to corporate strategy consultants like Accenture and Deloitte - are positioning to participate in this nascent market."
