Gartner: IT users will become dissatisfied with growth
More than half of IT users will not be satisfied by the market's slow rate of evolvement in five years time, one market analyst has said.
Gartner forecasts the speed of enterprise IT change will slow through to 2013 due to users' willingness to use web-based alternatives instead of what their IT organisations provides.
Tom Austin, vice president and Gartner fellow, said what may make life easier for an IT company could "needlessly" raise dissatisfaction among users.
"Strategies to deploy technology uniformly everywhere often don't work as some users have to wait too long for new technology but technological progress comes too rapidly for others," he added.
The analyst advises against IT firms overly relying on uniform deployment as the solution.
Most companies will be better off starting with users who are already searching for new technologies they believe will improve their ability to complete jobs.
The analyst revealed earlier in the week that worldwide server revenue grew by 2.5 per cent during the first three months of this year.
