Future 'can be measured'
The future of society can be measured by measuring how long technology and social trends take to change, one expert claims.
Andrew Curry - who is director of the Henley Centre and co-author of the government's Foresight Report on Energy and Climate Change - believes that while it can never be knows what the future has to offer, informed guesses can be made based on the speed at which technology and culture develops.
Mr Curry explained the Future Generator - which is exhibiting at London's Transport Museum to show us what life will be like in 2055 - examines lifestyle preferences and can help firms start thinking about their future.
Since its launch on June 16th, more than 1,600 people have interacted with it and answered a series of questions about lifestyle choices and attitudes towards mobility and sustainability.
Various future scenarios are being depicted by the generator including a system of carbon trading and a world ravaged by energy shock.
