France leads fibre deployment in Europe
A new report has suggested that businesses in France could be set to see their broadband services improve in the coming years, as the country is leading Europe when it comes to the installation of fibre cabling.
Data released by Research and Markets showed that France is among the top three countries in Europe for fibre deployment and that this has been driven by demand for high bandwidth applications.
The report noted that fibre infrastructure in the country has benefited from one of Europe's most far-reaching investment programs and this means that this could be good for businesses in the coming years.
"Fibre will have a substantial presence in coming years as municipal network builds conjoin with these established operators to extend the service beyond Paris and the major urban areas," the report concluded.
A separate report noted that 2007 saw increased activity in fibre deployments across Europe. This was caused by the falling price of fibre builds and regulatory approval of municipal and government involvement in large infrastructure projects.
