Speaking as Gartner revealed it was set to host its first ever Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Enterprise Networking & Communications Summit, Steve Blood, research vice president at the company, said that it was important chief information officers kept abreast of developments in these sectors.
"Explosive growth across all areas of networking and communications creates challenges for managing expenses, security and access," he explained.
"Enterprise networking and communications forms a key challenge for modern IT executives to innovatively support the business."
"The conference will provide the latest strategic insights, operational examples, and technological advice to drive cost-effective innovation, plan and capitalise on investment in new architecture and applications"
Mr Blood added that European businesses were increasingly realizing that well managed networks could offer significant benefits.
"The focus for CIOs is shifting from simply saving costs to supporting business growth and efficiency while still keeping a grip on outlay," he concluded.
