Firms 'can cut data losses' with cover

Fri 30-May-2008

Organisations making cutbacks during the current uncertain financial climate could save money by taking out data protection cover, one firm has suggested.

Bruce Boyers Marketing Services revealed that data losses can cost money as well as time when retrieving the lost data.

A company statement said: "All data should be backed up on a regular basis and be retrievable if needed, as quickly as possible."

The firm added there are many different solutions available to backup data and firms should choose the one that "best suits their particular needs".

"Employ all levels of data protection," the statement concluded.

Meanwhile it was reported by Forbes this month that firms are not protected against software losses through simple anti-virus and firewall software.

Figures from the Identity Theft Resource Center showed that more than 127 million people's records were lost last year.

In related news, a recent CA survey found that 79 per cent of companies lose data each month.
