Ethernet Alliance represents at Interop Las Vegas
The Ethernet Alliance demonstrated select Ethernet technologies at a trade fair in Las Vegas this week.
Showcasing a number of its sector's products, the industry body showed organisations how they could benefit from 10GB technology to deliver high-performance data networking to cater for increasing demands.
It was joined by Opnext at Interop Las Vegas 2008, held in the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre in Nevada.
A company statement said: "These technologies are based on recently completed or emerging Ethernet standards taking Ethernet into data centres, wiring closets, and building fibre riser backbones, as well as to corporate offices and wireless hotspots, and powering devices such as wireless access points."
Meanwhile, a new report has predicted that the availability of carrier Ethernet technology in packet-optical transport systems will boost demand for such products.
The Packet-enabled Optical Networking Quarterly Market Tracker by Heavy Reading suggests that the sales of packet-optical products will grow to be worth $2.8 billion by 2012, Light Reading reports.
