DWP IT contracts available
IT contracts that could be worth billions have been put up for grabs by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).
A competition for the contract to provide desktop services across the DWP from 2010 was announced by the department's chief information officer, Joe Harley, yesterday (July 1st).
Mr Harley said the department was committed to ensuring future IT services are provided in a way that delivers the best service to the citizen while representing the maximum value to taxpayers.
"To ensure this, we will be managing a series of competitions to replace existing contracts progressively by 2015. These will be conducted in accordance with public procurement regulations," he added.
Silicon.com reports the contracts up for grabs could be worth a total of £3 billion.
The DWP concluded it is reviewing plans for the future of its major IT service contracts as the principal existing agreements expire between 2010 and 2011.
