Cloud technology 'helping firms through recession'
Innovative technology such as virtualisation and cloud computing is helping UK businesses fight through the tough economic climate, it has been said.
Cloud is increasingly enabling small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) across the UK to reduce their costs and raise their efficiency, according to Piers Linney, joint chief executive of Outsourcery.
He said: "As the debate continues as to whether Britain is in recession, there is no doubt that the lions share of job creation will come from SMBs. The harsh pressure on start-ups and small businesses remains, as the latest figures from the Insolvency Service reveal.
"Technology such as cloud computing is providing help to many by doing away with thousands of pounds of costly IT investment in favour of pay-as-you go IT delivered over the cloud
enabling many SMBs to continue trading in these tough times."
His comments came after a 22.8 per cent increase in SMB insolvency was seen in 2009 in the UK, according to the Insolvency Service.
