Cloud computing 'offers security and reliability'

Mon 08-Feb-2010

Making use of cloud computing services offers small businesses a number of distinct advantages, it has been claimed.

Writing for the Wall Street Journal, Roger Cheng explained that the most notable financial benefit of going virtual is being able to slash spending on hardware, software and associated IT services.

In addition, such a solution also helps companies of all sizes to save money on in-house systems administrators.

However, Mr Cheng also advised that cloud computing offers more than just financial savings, being both more reliable and more secure than the IT systems usually in the price range of smaller enterprises.

"Big vendors usually also have expansive IT staffs to handle problems and more resources to invest in backup measures and security," he explained.

This advice follows on from comments made by Rob Lovell, the chief executive of ThinkGrid, who noted that as businesses start to learn about the advantages of cloud computing, many more are opting to go virtual.ADNFCR-1505-ID-19602863-ADNFCR
