Climate change 'offers firms opportunities'
Firms in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry can benefit from opportunities arising from the threat from climate change, one body has claimed.
The Climate Group claims thinking about how climate change solutions can bring about long-term savings for businesses is usually the first step in bringing about change.
Molly Webb, the group's ICT project director, said organisations need to be reminded that climate change can present business opportunities that are "good for the planet and good for their bottom line".
"It's always good to demonstrate and give companies the numbers to illustrate where the most emissions could be reduced and what the barriers are and how to overcome them," she added.
The group's new report carried out with the Global e-Sustainability Initiative found that changes in the way people and businesses use technology could reduce annual man-made global emissions by 15 per cent by 2020 and deliver savings to more than £400 billion to businesses.
