CRM market booms
The global customer relationship management (CRM) market boomed by nearly one quarter last year, one market analyst has found.
Gartner revealed sales of CRM software worldwide totalled $8.1 billion (£4 billion) in 2007 - up 23.1 per cent from the year before.
Sharon Mertz, research director of the firm, said the results showed a fourth successive year of solid growth.
"The market was driven by greater contributions from emerging regions, continued rapid adoption of software as a service and a continued focus on investments that promote customer retention and enhance the customer experience," she added.
According to a statement released by the analyst, the CRM market is still highly concentrated in Western economies as emerging markets account for just 15 per cent of the market.
Meanwhile, Gartner forecasted last week the use of email will the lead the cloud computing revolution.
It suggested the number of commercial mailboxes using a cloud-provisioned model will boom from one per cent last year to 20 per cent over the next four years.
