Businesses need more bandwidth
Companies do not have enough bandwidth to provide remote workers with fast and secure access to online systems, according to new research.
A survey carried out by research company e-Media revealed that remote workers are least likely to misuse company networks but are the largest security risk.
Nigel Hawthorn, vice president of marketing at Blue Coat Systems, told IT Week: "You might assume that it is your remote workers that would be abusing company systems, but they are not. Perhaps they are more acutely aware of what happens when you hog bandwidth."
Meanwhile, last month an industry expert urged governments to make sure that they encourage next generation fibre networks to meet the growing business demand for bandwidth.
Larry Irving, head of the Internet Innovation Alliance, said that businesses were increasingly demanding more bandwidth and it was vital governments provided the support to be put in place, Telephonyonline.com reported.
