Mon 16-Jun-2008

The global business process outsourcing (BPO) market will reach $450 billion (£225 billion) by 2012, one analyst has said.

NelsonHall predicts in its latest forecast of the BPO market that it will go from strength to strength and will match that of the more mature IT outsourcing market.

The Global BPO Market Forecast 2008 – 2012 report added the sector had matured in terms of supplier capability and this was visible in the increased BPO technology crossover ventures.

A statement from the analyst said: "NelsonHall believes the economic climate will hasten globalisation, with organisations not only using offshore outsourcing to reduce their cost base but also hastening the development of their capability in emerging markets to take advantage of the growth opportunities there."

This will lead to a booming need for BPO services to support new market entrants, it added.

Founded in 1998, NelsonHall claims to be the BPO industry's leading analyst offering unrivalled expertise and decision-making based on evidence.
