The Public Sector Information Security Services Group is a dedicated team designed to meet the needs of Public Sector, Local Government, Central Government and Military organisations around Europe.
Project Description:
This role is based within the Public Sector Information Security Services group. A number of projects have resulted in a large and complex security system being built into the infrastructure of Interoute’s network.
The system fulfils:
- EU data retention functions
- Internet mal-ware and hacking stats
- Volume billing enhancements
- And other governance elements
Responsibilities/ Main Duties:
Main functions of the role are:
System administration
The platform (s) are all based on Linux. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining this. This will include:
- All general maintenance
- Developing a standard baseline that can be deployed remotely
- Backup and restore procedures
- Security monitoring
Maintaining the security infrastructure
Main functions of the role are: The systems comprises of a number of IDS/IPS technologies ( snort, barnyard and RealSecure) and other security devices such as Radius servers and PIX firewalls. These need to be maintained and deployed as the system expands.
The systems also include a bespoke SIM/mediation engine.These will need to be maintained by the successful candidate.
Knowledge/ Experience required:
Experience in these areas is mandatory:

Unix administration and Linux (fedora and redhat)
- Snort and Barnyard plus other supporting tools
- PERL and Shell Script programming
The following is desirable:
4. ISS RealSecure and Proventia IDS appliances
5. Cisco PIX Firewalls
6. AFICK or Tripwire
7. Cryptocard or other Token authentication
8. Oracle
The following general experience is required:
- 3years (min) experience working in Information Security
- Good knowledge of security practices
- Experience in incident handling
- First hand experience of working in a services environment
- SSCP, CISSP or GIAC security qualification (GCIA/GIPS)
- Security Cleared SC or DV DV – or capable of being security cleared to DV
