Power & Facilities Design Engineer

• Definition of technical standards for infrastructure facilities and recommendation of facilities requirements at IRT and 3^rd. party locations.
• Supporting the development and design of the physical network infrastructure and its expansion.
• Identification and augmentation of additional infrastructure requirements in support of network expansion and customer requirements.
• Identify and recommend upgrades to existing systems for building security and access, to improve the colo product offering to customers.
• Design and issue detailed documentation for all changes to the Interoute backbone buildings and co-location areas, for implementation by the Field.
• Anaylsis of alternative lease cost solutions for network expansion of infrastructure elements.
• Audit of completed projects to ensure compliance with defined standards and rule sets.
• Assist colo products groups in ensuring product sets fulfil industry standards for collocation and hosting requirements.
• Act as single point of contact in driving collection of requirements in fulfilling infrastructure needs in support of customer and network projects.
• Co-ordinate development of systems in support of automation of facility infrastructure management.
• Act as single point of excellence in guarding standards are maintained
• Assist with reduction in cost by offering cost effective solutions
• Identify New initiatives to improve facilities and infrastructure requirements by increased efficiency or reduction in cost.
• To manage BMS implementation and new requirements/augmentation.
• Process improvements and recommendations

Responsibilities/Main Duties:

• Do detailed inside facilitates’ designs of Interoute’s premises and allocate required resources, i.e. floor space and power
• Develop and detail design rules pertaining to buildings and power
• Define technical standards for infrastructure facilities and recommend facilities requirements at IRT and  3^rd. party locations
• Evaluation of requirements in respect of new building infrastructure to support network growth and expansion, reserve and allocate resources in currently used building
• Audit sites and report in case where there are capacity concerns
• Work in conjunction with sales and marketing and produce facility part of a Customer Design Document where sales are achieved.
• Work in conjunction with the build group to ensure that any design changes, during works execution, meet the design requirements
• Work with other technical and products groups to ensure that infrastructure requirements are identified at an early stage, ensuring that new build requirements or expansions are captured, and plans produced for any upgrades/expansions and new build
• Update BMS according to any change in expansion of facilities to ensure effective and efficient network operation
• Reserve and allocate resources on an inventory database, keep floor space info in inventory database
• Analyse real and future utilization of floor space, electricity, etc. and propose a solution that minimize expenses, implement such a solution
• Produce documentation covering processes and procedures as required
• To define a set of measures that may be used to judge progress and to provide regular management reports
